We had a fun typical summer Tuesday.

We started with a trip to the library to return our current haul then pick out books and movies for the week. I love how much they love books!

We also spent time at the playground that they love near the library.

We dropped by Target to grab things we need then home for lunch. I love spending my days with these little monkeys!

Emmy took a nap then we decided to meet some friends down at the neighborhood pool.

Even though I will have more time to get things done when school starts, I never ever want this summer to end!

After a week of staying home to recover from our summer bug we are back to classic summer programming!

We met some friends at a playground and it was so nice!

Emmy was feeling very cool about getting out of the house.

I love Emmy’s crazy, dramatic personality (Cannon wasn’t upset, just very focused on a show).

After lunch we played in the basement for a bit.

Then Emmy fell asleep in my lap while Cannon played, best feeling ever!

As I moved on from following Hardrock 100 it’s time to move on to Badwater 135. I love seeing these guys supporting Sally McRae.

Could you run in 104 degree heat? I am sure I could not! I have no desire to run Badwater, but it’s fun to watch (from home with my AC running 😉

We had a good weekend day and it was nice to finally be back out in public after a sick week at home.

We had homemade waffles and Nutella, Emmy was a fan!

We then got to spend the morning playing and visiting my parents. Then we went to our cousin’s birthday party. I wish I had taken pictures it was so fun! The theme was carnival games, the kids got to win tickets then “buy” treats and toys with the tickets. Cannon is already asking when it will be Cora’s birthday again so he can play more games!

We ate dinner outside in the backyard which is always fun but makes it harder to get the kids to go up for bedtime. They could play outside forever!

Today marks exactly one month until Cannon starts Kindergarten on August 18th and it has reminded me that we need to start getting our act together. We have gotten very comfortable with our lazy mornings, especially after spending last week at home sick. It will be a shock to the system when we have to be out the door ready for school at 7:30!

Today was mostly a lazy day again while we continue to recover.

Please tell me something fun you are up to this weekend!

This week we have really started planning our trip for Winter Break, Christmas in July may seem crazy but things will fill up and we need to make plans and reservations now!

This trip was inspired by a friend who took a trip they called “Operation Christmas Cactus” last year when they couldn’t see their family for Christmas because of Corona Virus . Their trip looked so amazing I knew we wanted to do something similar. Cory’s company shuts down the week between Christmas and New Year. We always feel like we “waste” that time off so this year we want to take advantage and go on a big adventure by adding 4 more vacation days.

Our trip will also take a little diversion into California for Joshua Tree and Disneyland. I have always wanted to see Disneyland decorated for the holidays and we are going to be just a couple hours away, so a couple days at the happiest place on earth, including Christmas day!!!

I am SO SO excited to plan all the details and visit these amazing places!

Has anyone been on a southwest road trip? What are we missing?

I don’t have much to say about the last couple days other than it’s just a little bit sad.

Because of the bug that Cannon has (and a wicked cough) we have been hanging out at home and we are all OVER it. I am hoping we can venture out tomorrow but we will have to see.

In the afternoon Emmy accidentally poked Cannon in his eye so hard that there is some broken blood vessels. After talking to the on-call nurse she encouraged us to make an emergency visit to make sure his vision wouldn’t be impacted.

So off we went to have Cannon’s eye checked. We learned he has a corneal scratch, but it’s not too bad so he just needs some antibiotic eye drops (which he hates). Luckily it should heal with little pain and no permanent damage.

Emmy felt really bad about her part in the accident but was happy that we got to pick up Cory from work on the way to the doctor.

Hoping for a better day tomorrow and hopefully all feeling well enough to get out somewhere to do something fun.

**Yes, Cannon and Emerald are wearing matching neon shirts, I bought them for our trip and they REALLY wanted to wear them today, so why not!

Anyone else dealt with a a summer bug?

Two unplanned visits to the doctor is enough for us, let’s hope for no more!

Our little boy turned the big 5 last month and it really seems like everything changes now and he is no longer my little toddler that mostly stays home with me. Now he is independent, helpful and ready to head off to Kindergarten.

Cannon still greets each day with a smile and is quick to give me a hug and check in to make sure I am happy too.

Cannon’s favorite thing to do by far is to adventure outside and we were excited to start winter camping!

A highlight for Cannon was our trip to Utan for Spring Break.

He really has become a great hiker and interested in seeing the world as much as possible.

Cannon has really been enjoying taking photos of all the amazing places we get to visit.

Cannon has made some friends that are very special to him.

But his little sister is still his best friend.

Cannon played his second season of soccer and is starting to love it more and more.

For the second half of the school year Cannon bounced back and forth from in person to distance learning as Covid-19 made it’s way through our community. We loved his little pre-school (4 days a week, 3 hours a day) for the last 2 years and were happy they at least got to spend the last few weeks together and he got to say goodbye before moving on to full day Kindergarten. He came so far and learned so much but the thing I am most grateful for is that he learned to love school.

Cannon has also been loving that our pool is open this year and would go swimming everyday if he could.

Cannon – sweetheart, I hope you never change! You have the best heart and you make everything more fun. We love you more than you will ever know!

We have been laying low since we got home from camping since Cannon has been feeling under the weather.

We have been hanging out in our backyard and enjoying time together.

Sometimes a forced slow down isn’t so bad.

Weirdly there has been a focus on Halloween for the past couple days.

We are planning on a trip to Disneyland in September and I am so excited, we were supposed to go for my birthday last year so we will be celebrating my birthday there this year instead!

Disney announce that they are brining back Halloween Time and the Oogie Boogie Bash!

The kids wore their Nightmare Before Christmas shirts to give us good luck for getting Oogie Boogie Bash Tickets.

It was about a three hour wait and a lot of watching the wait time go down then back up but we got tickets!

Knowing we need costumes in September for our trip motivated me to figure out our costumes for this year. We are going for Nightmare Before Christmas theme for the family because it’s the kids’ favorite movie and they are both so excited to get their costumes.

Now with all this Halloween planning behind us I guess Christmas is next?!? I wish I was kidding but we are planning a big trip so we do need to finalize dates, make reservations and complete planning. So Christmas in July is next!

Do you plan holidays long in advance?

I love fall/Halloween/Christmas but I am also in NO hurry for summer to be over!

We spent some time in Breckenridge this weekend and it was nice to take it easy and visit some of our favorite spots.

We started the day on the Breckenridge Gondola (have I mentioned we love gondolas). It was an interesting ride that does not take you to the top of the ski runs but to an alpine activity center and chair lifts to take you higher. We didn’t take the lifts higher because Humphry was with us and Bulldogs can’t do open chair lifts. We hiked a bit then rode back down. The Gondola is based right along the river walk bike path so it’s an easy walk into town.

I didn’t get any photos but there is a little park right in the center of town that the kids love! We hung out there until it was lunch time. We found a pub with lots of outdoor seating, lucky for us there were lots of places to choose from.

After lunch we visited the Alpine Gardens.

Then played in the river.

We walked the rest of the way back to our car then drove to a playground I wanted to visit.

We have driven by River Park many times on our way into Breck so it was fun to finally visit.

It was as cute and fun as we hoped.

We decided to not visit Isak Heartstone since we were just there in October but it is well worth a visit!
