We are busy celebrating 15 years of marriage.

Still one of my best life choices, the years are flying by. Here’s to another 50+ years!
I saw this posted and thought it was a good reminder for our kids and pets this summer:
Our Humphry got sick on our on our camping trip and it was very scary since he has had such bad health problems in the past (and we will never really be in the clear with him). Luckily it was just a bacterial infection of some sort. Some meds and he seems to feel much better!
I am so so excited about the sports coming up in the next couple months! We don’t watch sports often but some of my favorites are all coming up! The track Olympic Trials are going on now. Western States 100 is this weekend!
AND Le Tour de France starts on Saturday!!
I am so excited, I love watching the tour, although this year I am sure I will miss most of it. The year I got to watch almost all of it was in 2016 when Cannon was a new born.
I was on maternity leave, he was my only baby and was just sleeping and nursing all day. We sat and cuddled with the tour on in the background all day. You can watch this years’ Tour on NBC’s Peacock.
Lastly the Summer Olympics start next month and I am excited to see all the best athletes in the world doing what they love.
What is your favorite sport to watch?
While International Travel is still limited, traveling domestically is on the rise! Below are some of our local favorites:
ROYAL GORGE – CAÑON CITY COLORADO
Great Sand Dunes National Park
A few that are on our list for this year include: Rocky Mountain National Park, Aspen, Black Canyon of the Gunnison and some quality time in Leadville.
What’s on your bucket list to visit this summer?
Where have you been in the continental United States that you loved?
We were so lucky to get to go on a camping trip to celebrate Father’s Day Weekend with my parents and brother.
We decided to stay in Steamboat Springs because none of us had spent much time there and we all love exploring new places.
This was taken on a stop on the way out, potty breaks are a lot more fun in the RV.
We all went on a hike together to Fish Creek Falls, the views were stunning.
The kids liked the big payoff of seeing the falls.
We also hiked down to the bottom of the falls so the dogs could get their paws wet in the river.
We had four dogs with us and they all get a lot of attention.
We tried to go to the botanic gardens but it was closed for an event, it looked beautiful through the gates. We will try to go again when we are back in town.
We did find a couple playgrounds to play at!
We visited Steamboat Lake and took the kayak and SUP out.
We played mini golf for the first time and the kids loved it!
The Yampa River ran through our campsite so we spent time skipping rocks and watching people tube by.
Cory took the kids on a bike ride along the river path, the kids loved riding off road in the bike trailer (also they love snacks).
We celebrated Father’s Day with BBQ hamburgers, Mom’s famous potato salad and treats from a local bakery. It was so nice sharing this time with my entire family. Cory’s father passed when he was ten and we miss his presence in our life so much. If you are missing someone on holidays (or any day) our hearts are with you.
This morning we packed up and drove home, it was a good long weekend.
We spent all day doing Cannon’s favorite things and all had the best day.
It’s easy to spoil Cannon because he loves almost everything and just wants to be with his people.
We started the day with cinnamon rolls eggs and presents. Then Cannon’s last swim lesson of this session.
Then Cannon went to bike camp for a few hours then home for Happy Meals and cuddles. We needed some cool down + rest time after being out in the 98 degree heat.
In the afternoon we met friends for a pool party for Cannon. He was so excited to spend time swimming with friends and sharing treats.
We went home happy and tired. Then shared shrimp quesadillas (Cannon’s pick) birthday cake ice cream cones and watched Raya and the Last Dragon.
Cannon said it was his best day ever and it made me want to cry happy tears. I want nothing more than to make these kids happy and feel loved. Cannon makes it so easy.
Please never change Cannon, we love you to the moon!!!
Today is Cannon’s last day of being 4 and I wish that I didn’t feel so sad about it! I know it’s good for him to grow up and he loves being so independent now. But 4 still seems so little and 5 seems like such a big kid. It also means him starting school full time and that won’t end until he moves out (don’t talk to me about that!) I am just going to do my best celebrate him and give him the BEST day ever tomorrow.
We did the summer hustle of swim lessons in the morning. I will actually miss these. It was nice getting to sit out at the pool, drink my coffee and chat with my friends every morning.
Then off to bike camp for Cannon, I love that he is learning to ride but Emmy and I miss him all morning so I won’t miss that.
Emmy was happy when it was time to pick Cannon up!
Both kids were also happy to eat lunch inside and relax away from the 95 degree heat.
I am SO grateful for air conditioning.
This is our first house that has had an air conditioner, our cute little house in Denver didn’t and summers were rough. Lots of cold showers and cooking outside.
Now off to plan, wrap, blow up balloons and get ready to celebrate our boy!
We have pretty standard (and busy) days lately, I could live these summer days on repeat for a very long time. Even though it’s stupid hot, it’s not so bad when you can go to the pool when it’s 90+ degrees.
Our morning started with swim lessons for Cannon, Emmy happily played with friends on the pool deck. Then we had to quick change and drive Cannon to his bike camp. He goes 9am-11:45am and honestly Emmy and I miss him a lot. Cannon had a great time but I am glad that doesn’t have a lot of camps this summer, I value our time together so much!
Emmy and I met a couple friends a little playground that had a splash pad. I am sad that Emmy doesn’t seem to like splash-pads anymore. She loved them when she was little!
After playing we picked up Cannon from camp, heard all his stories and came home for lunch and a short nap for Emmy. She is dropping her nap but still needs it some days.
It’s nice to relax inside away from the heat for a little while.
It’s been crazy hot here for June!
It was Cory’s first day back at his office after more than 15 months working from home.
The kids were so little when he started working from home, Emmy was only 1 and Cannon was 3! I bet they don’t remember when he used to work in the office. Hopefully we will all adjust to Cory being gone for so many house and not having lunch with us anymore.
When Cory got home we celebrated his return by having frozen Margaritas (the kids had limeade slushies) in the back yard. We are lucky that our back deck is shaded in the evening so it’s tolerable to eat outside. On the 101 degree day I think we will enjoy the AC =)
