We had a very happy Pi Day.

We started with breakfast pi(e)

Then the kids asked for yoga, I love that they are into this now! Also they wanted to wear Christmas pajamas, and who am I to say no?!?

We had circular sandwiches for lunch before heading out to school.

After school we picked up pizza Pi(e)s for dinner. It was nice to have some fun for Pi day before Cannon had his first soccer practice of the season. We lucked out with a beautiful evening. We also lucked out with Cannon’s coach, he is amazing and I think Cannon is really going to love this season.

I was very excited to celebrate Pi Day since last year I dropped the ball and forgot until it was actual Pi Day and we were stuck at home in a blizzard.

I started the day early (again) with some PT then a quick run on the treadmill. I didn’t want to do too much after our 5k on Satuday!

The rest of the day was spent putting together our new play set.

The kids and I ran out to get astroturf for under the play set where the grass will die. While there we tried out some patio dining set. We are in the market for a new one and aren’t sure what to get. Anyone have one they love?

Luckily it was beautiful weather as we spent the rest of the day outside.

I wanted to go up to Estes park for a hike and pie but it took ALL day to put up the set.

Our old set went to a new home, it makes me happy to think of a little one getting to enjoy it!

We found a ladybug so I think that means we get good luck for the rest of the year!

We took our quarantine anniversary picture to make moving into Covid Season 3.

It was so nice to be outside so much and the kids LOVE their new set, it was hard to get them to go inside for bed. It’s going to be hard to adjust to the time change, it’s kind of the worst!

Today marks two years since our schools said “extended spring break” and asked us all to social distance.

Cannon was 3, Emmy was 1 and our lives changed so much basically overnight. We were so so lucky that we had a lot of opportunities to still get outside with lots of room in our neighborhood for walks and a backyard to enjoy.

We were also lucky to live near family, even if we couldn’t be together we still got to see them.

Even if it was through the window it’s better than Zoom 😉

I wrote this in a blog from March 2020 about researching how long we might be “social distance” and I am somewhat glad I didn’t know what was coming.

I can’t believe how much they have changed. I try not to think too much about how more than half of Emerald’s life has been in a pandemic and what they have missed out on. Life has not been easy for anyone the past two years but we have also gained some things. We invested in a travel trailer and have seen so much more of Colorado and spent more time together as a family.

Two years in, we are still here, together.

We had a pretty perfect weekend day.

It started out with snuggles with these cutties!

Then we went for a 5k family run. Cannon joined us on his scooter.

Emmy took turns running and riding in the stroller.

Cannon even got some trail running in, this was his favorite part.

We also took a playground break!

After our run we cleaned up and then went to Costco to pick up a new play set for the kids. This was such a great deal and the kids really needed an upgrade.

We bought this “Clubhouse” right before Emmy was born and it has been great for the toddler years, but they are ready for something bigger.

Cannon and Emmy were living their best life drinking Costco smoothies while waiting for the playhouse to be loaded onto the truck.

We had some Lucky Charms popcorn for snack, I can’t believe St. Patricks Day is this week!

Lastly Cannon was so excited to share his diorama that he made for school. He choose to make his about Jelly Fish and he did such a good job, I love him so much!

How is your weekend going?

We had a typical Day for us running around and enjoying that it got above 30 degrees today.

Cannon was happy to model the boots his grandparents got him.

While Cannon was at school Emerald and I went to the library, you can’t see how big her smile is but she loves visiting and picking out books and movies. She also loves playing there and could stay for hours.

We then ran around doing errands, getting a carwash, filling up on gas and visiting Target. I hate having the chemicals from the streets after a snow on my car so we visit the carwash often in the winter.

When we got Cannon home from school the kiddos let me get my PT exercises in and a short run on the treadmill. The kids played in our basement playroom and I have to say that is one of the best things we have ever done.

Then it was time for another bike lesson.

Both kids LOVE riding on the trail a bike with Cory.

Cannon made some great improvements.

I am so proud of him for how he is working on this new skill. Emmy is loving working on her strider bike skills. Teaching kids new skills always drives home lessons that apply to adults. With a little belief we can do it, consistency and hard work we can do anything.

What are you up to this weekend? My hope is to get the house cleaned up and possibly put up a new play structure in the back yard. I also just realized it’s Daylight Savings this weekend, not my favorite but next weekend is spring break!!!

This morning I went to my weekly PT appointment and got to tell my Physical Therapist that I have been feeling so much stronger. And I have! I shouldn’t have to keep learning this same lesson but when you actually follow a plan that a professional gives you and you do the work things get better. I am so happy to really feel the improvements and I am feeling hopeful for my recovery.

After my appointment I took the kids to the pool, I forgot to take a picture but here is one from when we went last month. They were excited to get back in the again. I am looking to get the kids back into swim lessons, it’s so important that they become strong confident swimmers.

We got more snow today so I was back on the treadmill to get just a little bit of running in.

Feels SO good to be running again. Even if it’s just two miles, I will take it!

I was listening to the Some Work, All Play podcast and I can’t get over their positivity and kindness. Listening to this podcast always lightens my mood and teaches me things. Also I think they need to start a couples podcast as they have the sweetest relationship, I love the way the speak to each other, life each other up and just seem like best friends.

I loved this post as a good reminder that our little ones are always listening to how we talk to them, how we talk to our partners and to ourselves.

It was a pretty fun day and I feel like with I am really really enjoying this time.

I got outside to run in the daylight and it was amazing, apparently I brought the dog hair with me on my leggings.

The kids and I went to our local Children’t Museum, where we used to go all the time!

It was fun to see how the kids interacted differently with the museum now that they are older.

They are so excited now that we are doing more activities indoors, and so am I!

Cannon had school as usual so Emmy and I ran some errands together.

When we all got home it was time for some bike lessons.

Cannon still isn’t confidents riding his pedal bike and we are trying to help him gain some confidence as he really does want to ride his bike on his own. Any suggestions welcome!

Emmy loved riding the Trail-A-Bike as well =) had to get the biking in Today as we are getting 4-6 more inches of snow tomorrow.

This morning I got up and enjoyed my coffee while doing my PT exercises. I am starting to really feel stronger and it does feel like all this PT really is making a difference.

I ran longer without walking then I have an months and felt lots of hope.

I then googled how to clear the records in my Garmin so I cold celebrate all the mileposts of this recovery.

We then went to our local sledding hill. We didn’t get much snow but it was plenty to get some good runs in.

And make some snow angels.

We spent some time on the snowy playground before running home for lunch and school drop off. I am so so grateful for these mornings of play and be together.

While Cannon was at school Emmy and I grabbed some groceries and got to have some one on one time. She is just such a fun person to be around.

Listened to any great podcasts lately?

I am getting pretty excited about my recovery. It may seem like nothing but being able to go out for 1.5 miles pain free is so much progress from where I was. Just shows that doing the PT I am given every day really does work. Why do I need to relearn this lesson over and over?

I put a plan into Training Peaks for myself, including my PT and Core that I need to do everyday and it is a lot of time but it will be worth it to feel strong and be able to run long distances again.

We spent the rest of our day celebrating our cousins birthday at the cutest little pool. It felt like a little bit of a return to normal to get to go to a birthday party!
