Another Test + Not Much At All

Our day started with a doctors visit and a Covid test.

While Cannon’s symptoms are not text book Covid and are mostly stomach related our doctor encouraged us to get a test because Covid can present so differently in kids. We are hoping for a negative test and for Cannon to feel better quickly.

He ran a low fever and didn’t feel like eating or doing anything all day. Cory and I took turns cuddling Cannon and taking care of him.

We will quarantine until we have a negative test (or a full 14 days) and his symptoms are gone.

Please tell me something good from your Friday!

A Sad Turn of Events

Cannon’s second day of school started out normally.

We walked to school and met some friends to play. Cannon seemed happy to return to school. The day progressed as normal.

Then right when it was time to leave to pick up Cannon we got a tornado warning. His entire district was under a shelter in place. The kids had to sit and wait in the hallway of the school for an hour.

When the worst of the weather passed Emerald and I drove to the school and waited in the parking lot.

Forty minutes late we got to collect Cannon.

He didn’t seem to be feeling great but I thought it was just the stress from the day….then the vomiting started, and the fever.

Just the second day, he was already sick, sad and needing to stay home. Not the start we wanted but luckily we can keep him home and help him feel better.

Cannon’s First Day

It was Cannon’s first day and he did so well!

Cannon was in good spirits as we got ready, packed a lunch and headed out the door.

It felt nice to get back to walking to school.

At drop off I was definitely emotional but Cannon was brave and excited.

While Cannon was at school Emmy and I met some friends at a playground and hung out until it was time to pick up Cannon and hear all about his first day.

It was 95 degrees but Cannon still wanted to play on the playground after school.

Emmy was happy to have her playmate back. We spent the rest of the night talking to Cannon about his day and just being together.

The mornings are getting cooler and you can feel that summer really is coming to an end.

The Very Last Day Of Summer

Today was our very last day of summer break, and I won’t try to hide that I am SO SO sad. I love having my kids home together having quality time. I KNOW it’s good for the kids to be on a schedule and back at school but I will miss our time together so much.

I let the kids decide what we did all day, so we played at home for some of the morning before going to the park for a while.

Then we met some friends at the pool for pizza lunch. The kids had the best time hanging out and swimming with their besties!

Emmy gets cold easily but enjoys being a sun bunny.

Cannon joined them at the end.

In the afternoon we played with Magnatiles (current favorite toy).

And did our final prep for school.

The kids were actually in bed on time with first day clothes picked out.

Here’s to a great and healthy school year!

Prepping + Priorities

Monday was prioritizing cuddling and time together before school starts.

We took the morning really slow and easy with lots of cuddles. These mornings will be missed!

Then we met friends at one of our favorite playgrounds.

The water feature was turned off all last year because of Covid but is now back on so the kids had a blast playing in the water.

The rest of the day was spent prepping for school and being together. Emmy and I are going to miss our Cannon so much!

A Soggy Hike in Frisco

We were excited to head up to Frisco to hike to Rainbow Lakes.

We knew there could be thunder storms but they were forecasted to come in after 3pm.

We started our hike at noon with sunny skies without any worries.

The hike was very cool with rocks and bridges over wet lands and rivers.

We were surprised when it started pouring down rain on us.

We were not prepared..the kids ended up wearing Cory’s and my hat and we all got soaked.

I was worried the kids would be upset but they both enjoyed our hustle back to the car in the heavy rain. Cannon said it was the best day ever!

I was a little sad we didn’t make it to the lake but it’s a good excuse to come back and try again. It will be stunning when the leaves start to change color!

More Cake!!!

We had another birthday to celebrate over the weekend.

It’s so nice to be able to celebrate together. Happy Birthday Dad!

Lucky for me I had great helpers to make another birthday cake. This time it was banana cake with whip cream icing.

Dance Parties + Dealing With Injuries

It was a good simple day here.

We spent the morning hanging out with friends at a playground with a splash pad. Cannon and Emerald had a great time hanging with friends before it was time to head home for lunch.

I have been spending time researching and saving fun school lunches since this is the first year that I have a kid that will eat lunch at school.

For the afternoon we had dance parties, read books and played trains and just had the best time. I am biased but these kids are just so much fun!

We are really into back to school books and getting ready for the big transition to school next week.

A Very Cory Day

It was Cory’s birthday and we spent the day sharing his favorite food and celebrating him as much as we could.

The day started out with crepes with Nutella and strawberries.

The kids approved!

Sadly Cory had to work but we stole him away and took him out to lunch.

Lucky Pie Pizza and very happy kids!

When we got home the kids helped me make a chocolate fudge cake, everyone in my family prefers homemade cakes.

For dinner I made Creamy Shrimp Pasta

Emmy loves when it’s someones birthday!

Kids Choice

As our summer days come to an end I let the kids choose what they want to do as much as possible.

Cannon choose the “tunnels” park for our morning play.

I am not sure who is going to miss Cannon more when he is at school all day and we don’t get to have lunch with him.

We have been experimenting with skipping naps for Emmy but lately she seems to need one, she fell asleep in my lap while I was reading her a story, I am not going to complain!

We enjoyed dinner outside.

Then played on the waterslide way past our bedtimes.
