Well hello August!
So much is going on this August, so much change, and so much to throw me out of my routine (on which I thrive). To help me stay committed to my health and fitness goals I have decided to do a run streak for the month of August. With a bunch of travel and heading back to work it would be so easy to let exercise slip off the priority list, having the extra motivation of keeping a running streak alive will help a bit.
I have done short run streaks in the past and they have been helpful to get back into go habits with running. I specifically decided to go with a running streak because I won’t have access to my usual spin classes while traveling for two weeks but I can take my running shoes with me.
I know some people don’t like the idea of run streaks because they can promote unhealthy habits or push people to develop injuries. I feel comfortable with doing a streak now for a few reasons:
- A month is not that long of a time
- I am not brand new to running, I have had some time to come back to running after giving birth and have ran a lot in the past.
- I am not requiring much to keep the streak alive, just 10 minutes or a mile counts and walking is allowed
I will be posting about my daily runs on instagram and Strava if you want to follow along. Ever tried a run streak? How long did you streak for?
