Finally……France!

I am so excited, we finally committed to a trip to France this summer.

[Source]

I can not wait to explore all these areas with the kiddos. We are planning about two and a half weeks to explore mostly France with a little dip into Italy and Switzerland. Or that could all change.

Anyone been to France? What should we do? What should I pack?!? LOL

Pinterest research……..

Back to Reality

After getting home from our weekend trip we were back to reality.

I have been having black coffee in the morning and while I am getting used to it, it kind of steals all my joy…..when I get back to more morning milage I will add my favorite creamer back in. A little sugar isn’t bad when you are going for a run!

The kids got to work coloring and playing with every toy they own. It’s like we had been gone from our home for months.

Cannon was very proud of the music he wrote.

Cannon had school in the afternoon and even brought back homework.

I wonder how much we will have next year in kinder. I love his little hands!

How much homework do your kids have each night?

A Visit to Pueblo

On Sunday we played at our campsite on scooters and visited the lake a bit.

I don’t think it’s the most picturesque place in Colorado but I am glad we visited!

Our campsite had a good view of the lake.

On our way home we stopped in Pueblo to visit the river walk.

Normally this area is full of water and boats but it was empty when we visited. I would love to come back and see it like above.

We did find a fun little playground and a cute patio to have lunch that allowed us to have our three dogs with us!

It was fun visiting Pueblo and I would love to go back!

Weekend Trip – Lake Pueblo State Park

We are loving winter camping, getting out in nature makes everything better. We tend to camp in very different locations in the winter than the summer since the high country is way too snowy and cold for us this time of year. I do prefer summer camping in the mountains, but it is fun to see parts of the state we wouldn’t visit in the summer.

Like Lake Pueblo State Park! We joined my parents for a little weekend camping.

The drive is only a little over two hours and very easy.

We did some hiking and playing, the weather was cool but comfortable.

After our hike we went to Pueblo to visit the zoo.

It was tiny but perfect for an afternoon and the kids liked it.

Then it was back to our campsite for dinner and stargazing.

Do you ever go camping in the winter?

Chores + Some Good Things

Not very much exciting to report from today, I got up early to do PT…again.

Then we worked on chores in our travel trailer. It’s not surprising how many things break in an RV given that it’s driven 70 mph on the highway, off road and left outside when it’s freezing and 100+ degrees.

Maintenance is needed….I do also think we use our trailer more than the average owner.

I did want to share this super cute instagram account:

And this amazing podcast, love them so much! I do wish they wouldn’t cuss so I didn’t have to worry about the kids listening but it’s their podcast. But be aware it’s NSFK (not safe for kids).

Trail Running 101 + Hopeful Planning

We are looking at more and more winter weather.

So I guess I will be seeing more and more of this:

And even thought we are in the thick of winter my PT is making progress and I am hopeful that I will be signing up for races this summer or fall. I love planning races it really motivates me to get up on cold dark winter mornings.

While I love running my heart belongs out on the trails!

Wintery Day + St. Patrick’s Sensory Bin

My day started with a trip to the Physical Therapist.

While I don’t love PT I do like investing in myself and my health, it’s really easy to let my own health to the back burner and take care of everything else.

It was a wintery, blustery day but Cannon still had school so we got tp drive in this mess. I love Cannon’s school this year, it was absolutely the best choice for us but I won’t miss this commute when we go to our neighborhood school that is less than a mile away.

I love how the kids love almost all weather, being a kid is the best.

To keep the kids entertained I set up their new sensory bin. I am still surprised how much they love these and how much I love to make them. This is our second one, I imagine we will set up a new one about once a month then repeat them after a year.

Our Valentine’s Bin.

Do your kids like sensory bins?

Up Early + Time vs Distance

I was up early to get my PT in and a little run. This time of year always has me looking forward to running outside in the mornings on cool(ish) summer mornings.

But for now it’s frigid dark mornings outside and time in the basement (super grateful for this gym even if outside is better).

I have been thinking a lot about time vs. distance and found this great article:

https://www.trailrunnermag.com/training/whats-better-training-by-time-or-by-distance/

I have gone back and forth about this a lot. The gist of the article is that you should do what works for you so that you can be consistent. For me when I am starting out/coming back time is often best because running just a mile or two feels different from what I used to be able to do. Once I have a good base and am training for a specific race then I think it’s best to switch to distance to be sure I am prepared for that race.

That’s just what I think works best for me….what works best for you?

Happy Training!

Valentine’s Day 2022

We wanted to celebrate love day with kiddos, it’s a lot of fun to share with them.

We had eggs and heart shaped cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

We prepped all the school valentines things, including gifts for classmates, teachers and a Valentines box for Cannon. He gets to have a fun party at school. I was a little sad for Emmy that she didn’t get a party, in years past we have had a little party with friends to exchange Valentine’s when they were too little to be in school. We dropped some gifts off with friends

Happy Little Things

The day started out like most with some PT, coffee and a little running.

Our ski hill got some good snow so we met some friends for some winter fun.

In the afternoon we worked on the kids’ Valentines boxes.

I LOVED valentines school parties as a kid and it was so fun creating these and Valentines for their friends.

Cannon was very excited to share these heart cups.

We spent the rest of the day at the children’s museum.
