A Halloween Party + A Big Girl Now

Cannon decided that he wants to write a book for Emmy for Christmas and it’s the cutest thing ever.

It was Cannon’s Halloween party at school and siblings were invited. Emmy and Cannon were both so excited to get to wear their costumes.

We also needed to buy a mattress for Emmy’s big girl bed.

She actually loved trying out all of the mattresses and found the perfect one.

We took a few last pictures of her room set up the way it was when she was a baby. It was a little hard to break down her crib, but her excitement over her new bed made it more bearable.

It’s a Fine Art

I just love this phase of parenthood where art looks like this:

Cannon has been loving school, his interests lean heavily towards math and science. It will be interesting to see how that changes over time.

I loved THIS article about balancing parenthood and running!

Our First Year With a Travel Trailer

I can confidently say that purchasing a travel trailer last year was a big life upgrade for us. We have had so many adventures in our tiny trailer. Since we can’t travel as we would like to the camper has made adventures possible. We have seen SO MUCH more of our home state of Colorado than the past 11 years that we have lived here.

We kicked of our camper ownership with a trip to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone.

This trip was amazing, I will never forget it. The kids loved it, Cannon still talks about the “boiling mud”

After our big trip we upgraded to a more off-road trailer and made a quick trip to Cheyenne Mountain.

We made a few other small trips then a big trip to see Utah’s Mighty Five National Parks during spring break.

This was another amazing trip that I will treasure forever. We also learned on this trip that we prefer to boondock (dry camp off grid) second choice is a camp ground and RV park is our last choice. That said RV parks can be fun and have their place. We stayed one night on this trip in an RV park so we could use their showers, do some laundry, etc.

In April we knew we wouldn’t be able to have a big birthday party so we wanted to take her on a special adventure. She was really into Dinosaurs so we took her to Dinosaur National Monument. We also explored the Rifle area because it was a good stopping point on the way.

Another amazing trip that we would not have taken without our trailer.

We made it down to the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Early May.

I have for the longest time wanted to see the Ouray/Silverten/Telluride area of Colorado. We made that dream reality over Memorial Day weekend.

We traveled so many places over the summer, we were out for long weekends every other weekend.

We made it to Steamboat Springs, Aspen, Maroon Bells, Twin Lakes, Breckenridge, Leadville, Crested Butte and Black Canyon of the Gunnison.

We ran away to Buena Vista for a beautiful fall weekend of camping and visiting a spooky ghost town.

Our goal for the year was to get out in the trailer at least once a month. We have a short trip planned in November and a big trip in December. If all goes well we should meet our goal.

We love our trailer so much! We would not camp in the winter/spring/fall or travel as far without it. The kids love it and we can’t wait to plan next years adventures!!!

Any suggestions of where we should go?

Played Too Hard + A Little Bit of Magic

We started our day with some spooky hot chocolate, the kids love a little extra holiday magic.

Marshmallow is a ghost Peep =)

We were very excited to find a new to us playground with the perfect amount of fall colors and leaves.

Emmy loved this swing! And I just want to take a minute to document how lucky I feel to have this time with my kids. It’s not perfect, we are limited on what we are willing to do because of COVID and we miss the things we used to do. But life is still simple and sweet.

Apparently we played too hard because Emmy fell asleep in the car after dropping Cannon off at school. I carried her in and she slept on the couch for a long time. She looked so sweet and little. My heart!!!

What is something that made your heart swell today?

Some Family Favorites

It was a pretty typical Monday for us. We started the day at a playground with some friends. It’s really nice to start our day outside in the sunshine and fresh air.

We have just a bit of time to get home, eat lunch then get Cannon to school.

While Cannon was at school Emmy helped me throw dinner in the crock pot. We are liking this Chili Recipe.

We also made some pumpkin bread to share (family favorite)

Some Favorites

On Sunday we got to see our cousins who are some of our favorite people.

What a difference two years makes!

The sun was bright!

I spent the afternoon looking at Halloween treats.

What are your favorite Halloween snacks?

Some Things Change

We had our typical Saturday filled with soccer games and family.

It’s so crazy now having two little playing soccer. Things change so quickly!

I looked back at a post from around this time last year, where the kids were so much smaller, I was talking about keeping the crib forever and we had snow. Emmy doesn’t nap and we are about to get rid of her crib. It’s been very dry this year and we still haven’t had ANY snow.

Planning is Half The Fun!

I have been busy adding the details to our Christmas trip.

  • 41 hours of driving (according to google, it will be more, especially with our trailer)
  • 14 Days on the road
  • So many fun destinations!

I am really getting excited for our trip. We won’t be home on Christmas morning and that feel weird, but I think we will be having so much fun we won’t miss it!

We are also have Christmas at home and with my parents early before we leave.

Are you traveling for the holidays this year?

A Random Updates – How Many is too Many?

We visited the pumpkin patch again with friends, we really like to celebrate the season! How many times to the pumpkin patch is too many?

Cannon’s school photos came back and they are SO cute.

We are picking out books to read on our Christmas trip.

And shopping for Emerald’s big girl bed, time to say goodbye to the crib.
